The Vegas Golden Knights opened their Eastern Conference road trip with a 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Despite a spirited third-period rally, Vegas couldn't overcome an early four-goal deficit. The loss drops the Golden Knights to 60 points through 48 games and marks their second consecutive defeat.
Game Summary
Boston dominated the first forty minutes, outshooting Vegas early while Akira Schmid faced relentless pressure. The Bruins capitalized on a struggling Vegas penalty kill as Charlie McAvoy and Elias Lindholm scored power-play goals just 30 seconds apart. Tanner Jeannot added an even-strength marker at 10:06 of the first, followed by a David Pastrnak goal in the second to put Vegas in a 4-0 hole.
Vegas found life in the third period. Jack Eichel scored just 31 seconds in, followed by a Tomas Hertl power-play goal at 3:01. Pavel Dorofeyev cut the lead to 4-3 at 17:25, but despite pulling Schmid for an extra attacker, the Golden Knights couldn't find the equalizer before the final horn.

Inside the Room
Coach Bruce Cassidy cited "tentative play" and "puck management" as the primary issues behind the slow start. While encouraged by the pushback, he was critical of the two power-play goals surrendered by the penalty kill. Regarding a potential roster addition, Cassidy confirmed the player is with the team but awaiting immigration clearance before he can suit up.
"We just talked about we got to start building our game again. We play tomorrow against a good team... let's at least get something positive out of here so we can walk out here tonight and not feel defeated."
Pacific Division Standings
Vegas remains first in the Pacific (60 pts), but their lead over Edmonton (58 pts) has narrowed to two. Anaheim (55 pts) and Seattle (53 pts) follow, with the Sharks and Kings tied at 53 points. Calgary (47 pts) and Vancouver (39 pts) round out the division.
Looking Ahead
The Golden Knights must find a way to replicate their third-period intensity from the opening puck drop as they continue their road trip tomorrow in Toronto.
