About
Possessing one of the most lethal wrist shots in the organization, Alexander Holtz arrived in Vegas following a significant trade with the New Jersey Devils in June 2024. Selected seventh overall in the 2020 draft, the 2002-born Swedish winger is a pure offensive threat designed to capitalize on defensive breakdowns. He requires very little space to load his release, frequently beating goaltenders cleanly from the top of the circles off the rush. His offensive profile hinges on finding soft spots in coverage and making himself available for cross-ice feeds.
While his heavy shot makes him an obvious candidate for the left half-wall on the power play, his long-term projection relies on refining his play off the puck. The coaching staff tasks him with improving his board battles and defensive-zone exit routes to complement his elite finishing ability. When deployed alongside playmaking centers like Tomas Hertl, he serves as the primary trigger man capable of turning medium-danger looks into immediate goals. Establishing a more consistent 200-foot checking routine will dictate his ability to secure heavier five-on-five minutes alongside the elite forwards on the roster.
