Gustav Sjöqvist, born in 2006, is a defensive specialist drafted by the Golden Knights in the sixth round (187th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Standing 6'3" and weighing 207 pounds, the left-shot defenseman spent the 2025-26 season with AIK in the HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden's second-tier professional league. In 34 games, he recorded three goals and no assists with 14 penalty minutes and a -9 rating.
Sjöqvist's primary organizational role is that of an old-school defensive anchor who uses his reach and size to suppress opposing transitions and kill plays in the neutral zone. He remains unsigned by Vegas, with his draft rights active through the 2026-27 season as he continues his development in Sweden.
